Join us for our ninth annual golf outing! On September 13, 2021, we will return to Coatesville Country Club and all proceeds will benefit the church’s flood rebuilding fund as well as various Downingtown local businesses who have supported this outing in the past.

UPDATE: Hurricane Ida left behind a large swath of damage as it rolled through our area. Downingtown was hit extremely hard with many residents and businesses suffering catastrophic damage. Unfortunately Messiah Lutheran Church was one of the buildings affected by the flooding losing everything on the ground level including the sanctuary along with its preschool. Because of the unprecedented damage the golf outing planning team discussed the situation with the Lord’s Pantry Food Bank (which fortunately was spared any flooding) and with the main event sponsors. From those discussions, it was decided to shift the proceeds of the outing to go directly to the rebuilding fund for the church instead of the Lord’s Pantry Food Bank for this year’s event.

Downingtown Local Businesses

The Messiah Golf Outing has been supported by the surrounding local businesses since the first event. This year we have decided to not solicit sponsorships or donations from the small businesses and restaurants due to the burden placed on them from the COVID19 pandemic. Instead we intend to return the goodwill they have shown to us by taking a portion of sponsorship, donations, and player fees, purchasing gift cards and raffling them off at the outing and at the church services in support of the Pantry.

We have lots of fun things planned including:

• Opportunity to purchase up to 4 mulligans ($5 each)
• Prize raffles (5 tickets for $10, 15 for $20)
• 50/50 jackpot ($10 per ticket)
• Awards for top team, individual long drive, and closest to the pin
• A light breakfast, full lunch, & refreshments at select holes

Shotgun start: 9:00 AM

You don’t have to be a great golfer to have a great day! We’ll use a scramble format in teams of 4 where all players tee off, the best ball is selected, and all players hit from that location. The format continues until hole out.
