Golf Outing 2023 Results

The 11th Annual Messiah Lutheran Golf Outing that was held on June 20th at Coatesville Country Club raised $3258.40 for the Lord’s Pantry food bank of Downingtown!

Over the last 11 outings we have raised a total of $51,336.80 for The Lord’s Pantry food bank of Downingtown!

Golf Outing 2023

Join us for our eleventh annual golf outing! On June 20, 2023, we will be back at Coatesville Country Club, and all proceeds will benefit the Lord’s Pantry.

The Lord’s Pantry of Downingtown has been in operation for over 50 years and is a non-profit, 501(c)(3). Since its inception, the Lord’s Pantry has been, and remains 100% volunteer. They currently serve 700 registered families a six to seven day supply of food that includes non-perishables, meat selections, fresh vegetables and dairy products.

Over the past ten years, we’ve raised more than $48,000 for the pantry, and our goal is to increase our donation this year!

Join the Fun!

We have lots of fun things planned, including:

  • Opportunity to purchase up to 4 mulligans ($5 each)
  • Pick Your Prize raffle (5 tickets for $10, 15 tickets for $20)
  • 50/50 jackpot ($10 per ticket)
  • Awards for top team, individual long drive, and closest to the pin
  • A full lunch & on course refreshments

Registration start: 7:30 AM
Shotgun start: 9:00 AM

You do not have to be a great golfer to have a great day! We are using a scramble format in teams of 4 where all players tee off, the best ball is selected, and all players hit from that location. The format continues until hole out.

2022 Golf Outing Results

The 10th Annual Messiah Lutheran Golf Outing that was held on September 12th at Coatesville Country Club raised $4035.40 for the Lord’s Pantry food bank of Downingtown!

While rain threatened to postpone this year’s event, we held it with a small leap of faith and in God’s goodness we were able to have the event and raise a good amount of money for The Lord’s Pantry food bank of Downingtown!

2021 Golf Outing Results

The results are in! The September 13th golf outing at Coatesville Country Club raised more than $5300 for the church’s flood relief fund! Because of the catastrophic damage caused by Hurricane Ida, the Director of the Lord’s Pantry food bank of Downingtown directed the 2021 golf outing proceeds be given to the Messiah Lutheran Church flood relief fund this year.

40 golfers registered for the 2021 golf outing and donated several bags of nonperishable goods to the Lord’s Pantry Food Bank. Thanks to Messiah members Mike Petrillo and Sheila Yamasaki in supporting the event. Additional thanks to Joan and Chuck Gibson for sponsoring the event.  We also want to thank and recognize our corporate sponsorships:

While we did not approach any of the local Downingtown businesses this year to sponsor the outing due to the burden placed on them by the pandemic in 2020, we distributed $1000 to them in the purchase of prizes that were raffled off at the golf outing. We wanted to give back to the businesses that have given to us over the last 8 events that include:

Golf Outing 2021

Join us for our ninth annual golf outing! On September 13, 2021, we will return to Coatesville Country Club and all proceeds will benefit the church’s flood rebuilding fund as well as various Downingtown local businesses who have supported this outing in the past.

Flood Collage

UPDATE: Hurricane Ida left behind a large swath of damage as it rolled through our area. Downingtown was hit extremely hard with many residents and businesses suffering catastrophic damage. Unfortunately Messiah Lutheran Church was one of the buildings affected by the flooding losing everything on the ground level including the sanctuary along with its preschool. Because of the unprecedented damage the golf outing planning team discussed the situation with the Lord’s Pantry Food Bank (which fortunately was spared any flooding) and with the main event sponsors. From those discussions, it was decided to shift the proceeds of the outing to go directly to the rebuilding fund for the church instead of the Lord’s Pantry Food Bank for this year’s event.

Downingtown Local Businesses

The Messiah Golf Outing has been supported by the surrounding local businesses since the first event. This year we have decided to not solicit sponsorships or donations from the small businesses and restaurants due to the burden placed on them from the COVID19 pandemic. Instead we intend to return the goodwill they have shown to us by taking a portion of sponsorship, donations, and player fees, purchasing gift cards and raffling them off at the outing and at the church services in support of the Pantry.
