Psalm & Prayer: Psalm 29

Psalm 29:1-11 (ESV) Ascribe to the LORD, O heavenly beings, ascribe to the LORD glory and strength. 2  Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name; worship the LORD in the splendor of holiness. 3  The voice of the LORD is over the waters; the God of glory thunders, the LORD, over many waters. 4  The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is full of majesty. 5  The voice of the LORD breaks the cedars; the LORD breaks the cedars of Lebanon. 6  He makes Lebanon to skip like a calf, and Sirion like a young wild ox. 7  The voice of the LORD flashes forth flames of fire. 8  The voice of the LORD shakes the wilderness; the LORD shakes the wilderness of Kadesh. 9  The voice of the LORD makes the deer give birth and strips the forests bare, and in his temple all cry, “Glory!” 10  The LORD sits enthroned over the flood; the LORD sits enthroned as king forever. 11  May the LORD give strength to his people! May the LORD bless his people with peace!

Psalm Prayer: God of splendor, your voice thunders over the waters as you reign above the flood. Give strength to your people who are born anew by water and the Spirit, that we may praise your wonderful deeds and give you the glory due your name; through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen.

Psalm & Prayer: Psalm 8

Psalm 8:1-9 (NLT)  O LORD, our Lord, your majestic name fills the earth! Your glory is higher than the heavens. 2  You have taught children and infants to tell of your strength, silencing your enemies and all who oppose you. 3  When I look at the night sky and see the work of your fingers— the moon and the stars you set in place— 4  what are people that you should think about them, mere mortals that you should care for them? 5  Yet you made them only a little lower than God and crowned them with glory and honor. 6  You gave them charge of everything you made, putting all things under their authority— 7  the flocks and the herds and all the wild animals, 8  the birds in the sky, the fish in the sea, and everything that swims the ocean currents. 9  O LORD, our Lord, your majestic name fills the earth!

Psalm Prayer: God of majesty, amid the grandeur of your creation you sought us out, and by the coming of your Son you adorned us with glory and honor, giving us dominion over your works. Enable us so to care for the earth that all creation may radiate the splendor of your Son, Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen.

Psalm & Prayer: Psalm 97

Psalm 97:1-12 (NLT) The LORD is king! Let the earth rejoice! Let the farthest coastlands be glad. 2  Dark clouds surround him. Righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne. 3  Fire spreads ahead of him and burns up all his foes. 4  His lightning flashes out across the world. The earth sees and trembles. 5  The mountains melt like wax before the LORD, before the Lord of all the earth. 6  The heavens proclaim his righteousness; every nation sees his glory. 7  Those who worship idols are disgraced— all who brag about their worthless gods— for every god must bow to him. 8  Jerusalem has heard and rejoiced, and all the towns of Judah are glad because of your justice, O LORD! 9  For you, O LORD, are supreme over all the earth; you are exalted far above all gods. 10  You who love the LORD, hate evil! He protects the lives of his godly people and rescues them from the power of the wicked. 11  Light shines on the godly, and joy on those whose hearts are right. 12  May all who are godly rejoice in the LORD and praise his holy name!

Psalm Prayer: O God, you clothe the sky with light and the ocean depths with darkness. You work your mighty wonders among us. Give us new and honest hearts, that we may hate evil and love justice; and let us see the dawn of your glory in the face of your only-begotten Son, Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen.

Psalm & Prayer: Psalm 80

Psalm 80:1-19 (NLT)  Please listen, O Shepherd of Israel, you who lead Joseph’s descendants like a flock. O God, enthroned above the cherubim, display your radiant glory 2  to Ephraim, Benjamin, and Manasseh. Show us your mighty power. Come to rescue us! 3  Turn us again to yourself, O God. Make your face shine down upon us. Only then will we be saved. 4  O LORD God of Heaven’s Armies, how long will you be angry with our prayers? 5  You have fed us with sorrow and made us drink tears by the bucketful. 6  You have made us the scorn of neighboring nations. Our enemies treat us as a joke. 7  Turn us again to yourself, O God of Heaven’s Armies. Make your face shine down upon us. Only then will we be saved. 18  Then we will never abandon you again. Revive us so we can call on your name once more. 19  Turn us again to yourself, O LORD God of Heaven’s Armies. Make your face shine down upon us. Only then will we be saved.

Psalm Prayer: Lord God, you so tend the vine you planted that now it extends its branches throughout the world. Keep us in Christ as branches on the vine, that, grafted firmly in your love, we may show the whole world your great power and bear the fruit of righteousness; through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen.

Psalm & Prayer: Psalm 146

Psalm 146:5-10 (NLT) But joyful are those who have the God of Israel as their helper, whose hope is in the LORD their God. 6 He made heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them. He keeps every promise forever. 7 He gives justice to the oppressed and food to the hungry. The LORD frees the prisoners. 8 The LORD opens the eyes of the blind. The LORD lifts up those who are weighed down. The LORD loves the godly. 9 The LORD protects the foreigners among us. He cares for the orphans and widows, but he frustrates the plans of the wicked. 10 The LORD will reign forever. He will be your God, O Jerusalem, throughout the generations. Praise the LORD!

Psalm Prayer: Blessed indeed are they who put their trust in you, O God, our sure rock and refuge. Guard us from giving to any other the allegiance that belongs only to you. Shine upon us with the brightness of your light, that we may love you with a pure heart and praise you forever; through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen.
