Golf Outing 2023 Results

The 11th Annual Messiah Lutheran Golf Outing that was held on June 20th at Coatesville Country Club raised $3258.40 for the Lord’s Pantry food bank of Downingtown!

30 golfers registered for the 2023 golf outing. Thanks to Messiah members Mike Petrillo, Kathy Joyce, and Sheila Yamasaki, in supporting the event. Additional thanks to Joan and Chuck Gibson for sponsoring the event.  We also want to thank and recognize our corporate sponsors:

Over the last 11 outings we have raised a total of $51,336.80 for The Lord’s Pantry food bank of Downingtown!

Join us for our eleventh annual golf outing! On June 20, 2023, we will be back at Coatesville Country Club, and all proceeds will benefit the Lord’s Pantry.

The Lord’s Pantry of Downingtown has been in operation for over 50 years and is a non-profit, 501(c)(3). Since its inception, the Lord’s Pantry has been, and remains 100% volunteer. They currently serve 700 registered families a six to seven day supply of food that includes non-perishables, meat selections, fresh vegetables and dairy products.

Over the past ten years, we’ve raised more than $48,000 for the pantry, and our goal is to increase our donation this year!

Join the Fun!

We have lots of fun things planned, including:

  • Opportunity to purchase up to 4 mulligans ($5 each)
  • Pick Your Prize raffle (5 tickets for $10, 15 tickets for $20)
  • 50/50 jackpot ($10 per ticket)
  • Awards for top team, individual long drive, and closest to the pin
  • A full lunch & on course refreshments

Registration start: 7:30 AM
Shotgun start: 9:00 AM

You do not have to be a great golfer to have a great day! We are using a scramble format in teams of 4 where all players tee off, the best ball is selected, and all players hit from that location. The format continues until hole out.

Returning to Indoor Worship

After careful consideration and planning by the full Council and the Worship Committee, we have decided to resume indoor worship at both services beginning Sunday, July 4.   Chester County leads the state and area in vaccination rate (https://www.health.pa.gov/topics/disease/coronavirus/Vaccine/Pages/Dashboard.aspx), and we will be following the practices and guidelines listed below. We feel these steps will help meet the needs of the congregation while taking reasonable precautions to be safe.

  • Both services are open to all – vaccinated and non-vaccinated.
  • Services will include congregational singing.
  • We will follow recommendations/considerations from CDC and encourage distancing where possible and appropriate. https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/community/large-events/considerations-for-events-gatherings.html
  • Masks will be optional for those who are fully vaccinated (which includes the 2-week period post-last dose). Everyone who is not vaccinated is asked to mask (including those under 12).
  • Hand sanitizer will be available at the entrance to the narthex/worship space for use pre- and post-worship.
  • Please respect a person’s preference as to how they may want to share the peace.
  • Communion distribution: The communion cup trays will be partially filled, and you are invited to take your own cup from the tray that the worship assistant is holding. Pastor Tim will be cautious as to not touching your hand as he drops the wafer/bread into your palm.
  • If you prefer greater social distance and separation, the last row of seats and the narthex will be available.
  • We will continue to stream the services live on Zoom and YouTube if you prefer an online option.
  • Weekly Saturday evening services will resume Saturday, September 11, 2021, at 5:00 p.m.
    • Summer Saturday evening services will be offered on Saturday, July 17, and August 21 at 5:00 p.m.
  • Once again, changes will start Sunday, July 4th.

There is no easy answer that will be right for everyone. Our Council, the Worship Team, and Pastor Tim will be glad to hear any suggestions, questions, or concerns that you might have.

He is risen! Easter Worship

Join us for in-person Easter worship! Weather permitting, we will be holding services outside the church building at 8 and 10 AM on Sunday, April 4. Bring your lawn chair or stay in your car and listen over the radio!

We will be following CDC guidelines on masks and distancing, but we are excited to have everyone gather together. We invite your family to come and enjoy a beautiful service. Services will also be broadcast live on Zoom (https://messiahevents.com/zoom) and YouTube Live (https://messiahevents.com/YouTubeLiveWorship) regardless of the weather.
